G is for gray and gloom, which often follow the words May and June
H is for high pressure, which normally crushes the marine layer, but not always
I is for inversion which without it, the marine layer could not exist
J is for jacarandas which the marine layer can delay the bloom of
K is for kids whose first few weeks of summer vacation are usually ruined by the June Gloom
L is for lucky, which is what you are if you see the sun for more than one hour at the beach any day of May or June
M is for moist, misty and miserable, which it often is under a deep marine layer
N is for nefarious which an mid afternoon stratus surge always is
O is for obstinate, which the marine layer clouds often are in late spring and early summer
P is for puke, which is the kind of reaction a deep marine layer can cause
Q is for quivering in fear, which extended May Gray and June Gloom forecasts cause sun lovers to do
R is for ridiculous which it is when San Diego fails to reach 70 F for 10 or more consecutive days in June
S is for sickening, which is what the smog trapped under the inversion always is
T is for trash, which the marine layer is often compared to. It's the sun's job to take out the trash.
U is for umbrella, which is what you need in a heavy marine layer drizzle
V is for vast, which describes the expanse of the marine layer cloud deck over the Pacific
W is for water vapor, which the marine has too much of
X is for X out, which some people may do at the end of each day during the May Gray and June Gloom season before summer arrives
Y is for yucky, which is what the marine layer stratus clouds always are
Z is for zipper, which you should have on your jacket if you live near the cold ocean in San Francisco or San Diego
