Not really even monsoon-ish, as it's the anomalous upper level low driving things. I see no sign of classical reversal of the low level flow to bring moist southerly winds north (from the subtropical high settling to the north of the area). And with the pattern into mid June continuing to bring these big troughs into the west it'll make it hard to get it going anytime soon. Sometimes when it's too delayed the high just sets up too far south and you stay hot and dry like in 2020.
At least you cool off a bit more with the elevation and being on the outskirts of down. I see 82F in Fountain Hills this morning. But there will be plenty more where that came from as moisture increases into July and holds the low temps up.
I certainly think the June pattern would at least potentially favor a storm getting pulled inland, but a lot of moving parts makes it difficult to nail down if it happens at all.
It'd also be interesting to see a hurricane in those parts of FL/GA. I understand why it's rare but its wild to have gone over 100 years without a hit!
PHX hit a record high of 113F yesterday and the 1st 110F temp of the season was registered at 1:32pm local time at Sky Harbor. We have some high cirrus clouds that are acting as a blanket this morning. The DP has crept up into the low 40's and as funny as this sounds, I can actually "feel" the humidity today. Showers and Storms are going to fire up in eastern AZ today as a Monsoonal "ish" pattern has developed. Interesting to see this in early JUN and could be an encouraging sign for this year's Monsoon? I'd love it.
It's 90F at PHX right now....yikes!
Getting the idea at least something is going to kick out of the tropics this year.
If this were to verify, it would confirm parts of my forecast already. If Lezak is right, and a hurricane strikes the hardest part of Florida to hit, then my forecast already needs a trip to the drawing board. Lol. That's the most improbable place in my opinion to have a hurricane. That or maybe the GA coast. They haven't recorded a hurricane strike since 1899.
