Also even if it is fully clear and sunny in the tropics, the humidity actually lessens the impact of it. Acts as a natural moisturizer. Pair that with sea breeze and 80s along the tropical coast, it's heavenly weather.
On the other hand, the dry sharp sun that lasts for weeks on end with zero respite in the PNW is way worse under 90 degrees than humid hazy sun. Of course other parts of the US have it even worse but they usually have more haze and cloud cover than here as well as occasional rain.
As for humidity, it's only when you cross 90 that it has the opposite effect and the humidity starts suffocating you.
Low latitude summer sky is rarely clear, and in many places summer is the wet season so it's often cloudy, and even when it's not fully overcast the sky will be milky.
Irl I have heard many people tell me how during European heatwaves the sun was so stinging, in a way you never experience in a low latitude place at similar temps.
Arid low latitude places are a different story though.
