DEN had its warmest December on record and we're about to crush our warmest March on record. Just incredible pattern persistence this year (as seen by the opposite trends up north).
Both are the first record warm months since 2020.
I was thinking about how similar the upper level pattern was between the March heat dome and December.
That pattern in December torched the PNW hard while trapping the Central Valley under a long spell of tule fog. In March, the Central Valley smashed heat records while much of the PNW was sitting under coolish stratiform rain. A few months apart, very different results on the ground.
