Too bad there's no way to verify if this guy in Lincoln City has his sensor in a reasonable location or not, because 23 degrees in a quarter mile is probably just about the sharpest gradient you'll ever see, outside of a monster downslope wind scouring out a crazy cold pool back east of the Rockies or something. Given the presence of this hill and bluff to the NNW, I wouldn't be shocked if those numbers are at least in the ballpark of reality:

You're right, I was mixing up their respective locations. Morro Bay and Atascadero are a much better example.

Pismo and Paso Robles are about 30 miles apart. Morro Bay and Atascadero are just over 10 miles and can have a 50 degree difference.

I lied, we're getting close to the CA numbers along the southern Oregon coast. I bet if there were more sensors in the foothills down here there'd be some insane gradients. 53 in Gold Beach while almost 100 in Powers is pretty decent. Have to imagine the foothill temps are similar if there were sensors in the ones further south. Does Eureka still count as PNW for this thread?
