After yesterday’s digital skirmish I laughed exceptionally hard when God sent this my way completely by accident.

Honestly this could be one of the coldest Julys I can remember in a long time (recent history).......................... at best, the models have as getting back to climo for short periods.
First half of June did some work as far as putting up positive anomalies. The underpeformance on Monday's high temps all but ensures that June will technically finish a hair below average at ORD, probably a couple tenths of a degree or so.
It's frustrating that the ridge kept trending farther east over the past few days. If it hadn't, that GFS run would've ended up being pretty close (though if we get some actual good mixing on Wednesday we may have a shot at upper 90s). Oh well, at least the East is still on track for a historic heatwave.
