That -PNA in the north pacific is so consistent for Super El Nino! The last +PNA month was Jan 26

March 2026 was like +3.9std for the US, and the previous 1-month record all time was March 2012, +2.3.

Definitely a big time ridge signal out there for the western half of the country, but as of now the EPS keeps the PNW fairly comfortable - though certainly warmer than recently. I don't like my odds here.

The US overall has been relatively cool the past couple months. June 2026 ranked 28th warmest. The previous couple of Junes were both in the top 10.

Nothing annoys me more than people going offroad without deflating their tyres. If you drive on soft sand or a salt flat with 35 psi tyre pressure, there's a 100% chance you will get stuck. Saw a bunch of car stuck in a salt flat. Deflate to 15-18 psi then go offroad.
