2012 by far the hottest, most miserable summer of my life! The OTM thermometer simply was not reflective of the true temps in downtown Ottumwa Iowa along the Desmoines river (where the gages were located for many decades). The OTM site gets way more mixing of air and breezes is very flat area about 5 to 6 miles north of the river/downtown. As I recall on my gages and around the city of Ottumwa we saw: 20 days over 100F 60 days over 90F And I witnessed a 111F in friends shady yard. Myb had a 109F. And no significant rain June 20th thru Aug. I hope I never see a 2012 again!
