There's a logical way to look at warming (especially localized, short term trends) and then there's the hyperbolic path you went down.
But I guess you're committed!
It really does take a special kind of willful detachment from reality to observe the state of our climate in 2026 and think that any narratives about rapid warming (i.e. "doom") are being squashed.
1. Doesn't matter how you feel. The stats matter. Many ways to objectively measure it, and all point to the last two summers and especially this one falling short of the 2014-2024 standards that triggered your doom posting the past two years.
2. You're moving goal posts again to try to fit your narrative. Your doom narrative was about the warm season, not a running 12 month mean - sorry, doesn't fly.
I hit a high of 97 today as temps exceeded expectations. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow so I could make a run at 100. The grass is beginning to brown quickly and may not have to mow this week.
Many East Coast weenies are in for a rude awakening as to how insanely torchy and stagnant these super Niño winters can be. I see people referencing 2023/24 as a floor…haha. That winter isn’t even in the same ballbark w/rt the canonical expression, as a significant IPWP forcing element was retained. There will be substantially less cold to draw from this year, the pattern probably won’t even be comparable.
At least in strong La Niña winters there is actual Arctic air in Canada resulting in legitimate cold shots, even if brief/snowless. In Super Niño winters there is basically nothing to draw from up north. The airmasses are essentially all marginal/home grown. Henceforth you will often have very little in the way of interesting weather to speak of during the first third of winter out here. And even thereafter, when the atmosphere has cooled enough, snowfall chances still hinge on the amplitude of the STJ and timing of waves being just right to score marginal dumps of snow via dynamic cooling in what is still (usually) a warmer than average in-situ airmass.
I predict there will be a lot of Jim-esque meltdowns on X this winter. Hopefully confined to the NYC/New England region but very possible it extends to my region too. I have low expectations going into this one.
