You will never get rid of lobbying completely, because lobbying is no more than communicating with legislators as to what sort of policy one would prefer to enact (or, in some cases, not enact). And communicating with constituents is one of the jobs of legislators. I bet you have either called or written to a Congresscritter yourself, or are a member of at least one organization with (a) paid lobbyist(s) in DC (and/or OKC). Congratulations, you’re involved in lobbying!
It is, however, possible to equalize the process somewhat, to prevent the worst extremes of influence by the most powerful in society. The USA has done a demonstrably worse job at this than most first-world democracies.
