The GFS was still too far offshore/positively tilted w/ it, though.
However the most important distinction is that the trough doesn’t separate from streamflow like the GFS was originally showing.
I have been tracking this day and it appears there ended up being some compromise on this solution. Its not as far west as the GFS was showing originally but the EPS has slowly come around now to the idea of a ULL forming to our NW when before it was showing a broader trough over the PNW. There are elements that even the GFS sniffs out first.
