I would much prefer 1985 for that pair of months. November 1985 still stands as the most well rounded winter month I have ever experienced here. I was too young to remember more than just a couple of visions of Jan 1969.
The amazing thing in 1985 is the pattern totally changed in December, but it was still way colder than normal. By far the coldest Nov - Dec combo on record for WA and that includes the 19th century...at least the last half of it. I remember going to Moses Lake in December 1985 and the ice on the reservoir was 18 inches thick.
New EPS weeklies bring back the WPAC MJO/W1 somewhat. Maybe we can get a brief +TNH going second week of July?
Can see the E-Hem forcing (associated w/ +CGT/death ridge) returns ~ 7/20 which is likely to be the peak of summer across the CONUS. So the hiatus would have to be 2nd week of July.
