  1. Past hour
  2. From someone who has spent considerable time in Gaza, and not some armchair shlub. Read this and tell me Israel is the victim with a straight face: https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/05/opinions/israel-gaza-psychological-trauma-damon/index.html
  3. Yes that's how cyclical economies work. A huge money supply (close to zero % interest rates) causes inflation. That's where it all starts. God knows where our inflation would be if Trump controlled the federal interest rate, like he apparently wants.
  4. Yes, the low was 39. Midnight high of 46 yesterday, afternoon high was 41.
  5. Just looked at the SPC and looks like the Midwest is going to be very active tomorrow with an enhanced risk of tornadoes. Need to keep an eye on social media posts for what's happening
  6. No, there are mountains of evidence to prove the concept of evolution. If you are taking about human evolution, yeah, that's pretty much in the bag as well, but since we were not there to witness it firsthand, all we have is the evidence that we find, which, again, is very compelling. As far as God is concerned, I follow the evidence. There is NONE one way or the other. That's why I can never be an atheist. There's no proof to support that belief either. I just do not worry about it. I follow the Golden Rule, and that is all I need. If there is a God that wants to judge me for not being a believer, that is their problem and not mine, because I will just retort that they are rather needy to want a lowly human to believe. Then I can burn in Hell with a clear conscience And if there is no God, well at least I did my best and that's that. Finally, I already saw that video a long time ago. It's pure nonsense. Go on their website and read their stances on Israel. Lead off "fact"? "The Israelis and the Palestinians are not morally equal" A famous quote from her: “The Arabs are one of the least developed cultures,” Rand argued. “They are typically nomads. Their culture is primitive, and they resent Israel because it's the sole beachhead of modern science and civilization on their continent.” Fuq outta here with that ignorant colonial brain damage!
  7. It has to do with hormones. We need sunlight to function properly as humans. Gloomy weather is a powerful stressor to the body. “Excess stress (which can block progesterone synthesis and elevate estrogen) may bring on symptoms in someone who never had them. Spending a summer in Alaska, with an unusually long day, may relieve the symptoms of a chronic sufferer. Dark cloudy winters in England or the Pacific Northwest are powerful stressors, and cause lower production of progesterone in women, and testosterone in men.” https://raypeat.com/articles/articles/progesterone-summaries.shtml
  8. 17 at Camp Muir right now. Pretty insane for May!
  9. I do enjoy cool nights and sunny days. Any time the sun is shining between now and early October feels decently warm.
  10. It rained pretty much all day in Tulsa. I had 1.23", I see the airport had 1.73" and there was a station north of town with over 3". I've had 8.37" in the last 2 weeks so it's been a pretty incredible stretch. Probably some more with Monday night's stuff too!
  11. Looks like we might put up a couple more lows in the 30s this week before the warmth comes. One thing about this very cool weather is it doesn't bode well for the mid section of the country at all. These cold troughs in the NW have been the fuel for the severe weather there.
  12. Those who work at SPC and I follow on twitter are certainly saying this is the highest risk event of the year so far so yes, definitely possible. The one thing that may hold them back is that models are not showing a ton of convection over central/southern OK so they may not have the confidence to go high if there is any question the cap may not break. We will find out soon enough!
  13. I agree on the gloom part... but for me the cold max is just insult to injury. I actually don't mind 60s and rain in the warm season. I can do without 40s.
  14. I agree on this, there will probably be a lower ceiling up there and yet the coverage will be higher than most of Oklahoma.
  15. I saw the sun just poked out in Seattle at the very end of the weekend. We will give it another shot next week!
  16. I'm sure glad we got those couple of nice days last week. There is just something about gloom with long days that rubs me wrong. It's worth it to get a much below normal max like today though.
  17. In some ways I think it's best Trump lost in 2020. It has given him time to fine tune a very effective game plan. I think we also needed things to get bad enough to finally wake people up.
  18. Rain and 44 pretty Chilly, might be the last chill until October
  19. Warmest weather so far of the year coming up! Possible 90 on Saturday . If not for PDX maybe another location nearby. It’s going to make up for this weekend and then some.
  20. It’s called a cool day in May. They are normal.
  21. Today
  22. Yes... overall its been decent. The last couple weeks have been crappy though. Par for the course. There are probably 1 or 2 more periods like this coming up before we get to our annual warm/dry period.
