Showers should hold off till late in the day and arrive across the county from SW to NE this evening. Showers tomorrow will end by evening but some spots could see over an inch or more of rain by tomorrow night. Cooler and drier weather arrives for the weekend with falling back below normal with temps no higher than the low to mid 70's. Below normal temps should continue through the first few days of next week.
Chester County Records: High 102 degrees at Phoenixville (1925) and in Western Chesco it was the 97 degrees that same day. Low 39 degrees at Coatesville (1947) / Rain 2.39" Coatesville (1970)
Does PHX hit 110F today? Some models say yes, some say we come a hair shy....my gut says we don't get to 110 today and hit it tomorrow around 3:00pm at Sky Harbor. Already a balmy 84F at PHX this morning just at sunrise....it's going to be a HOT next few days as Summer in the Valley of the Sun is living up to it's name.
Looks like due westerly flow out this way with weak ridging. Probably marine layers on the westside and heat east of the crest, thunderstorms on the main axis of the ridge in MT where Gulf of Mexico sfc moisture advects into a very dry intermountain west environment. The same weather patterns that give them their best thunderstorms are also the ones that usually give our area seasonably cool, temperate conditions.
Thanks! Convection is one of the few corners of meteorology I actually feel I have a decent grasp on, compared to others like midlatitude dynamics, or whatever the hell dictates the weather in the tropics. Huh, Phil? MJO? You better M the J Outta here and touch some buffelgrass
