Here’s a dirty little secret: If the lower-48 is running a +3.4°F departure thru the first 3 weeks of June, and the final week runs a +3.7°F departure, the average will be warmer once that final week is accounted for.
Color bars can mess with your head. On that scale many areas in yellow/orange warmed ~ 1°F but didn’t change color.
You've heavily alluded to this several times, but let's just get it in the open. Will July have a warmer anomaly than June in the US or not? Seems like May's record shattering heat dome moving north from Mexico at some point would make that easy.
I don't think you have spent much time there. I think you assume CA is the downtown areas of SF and LA.
Go to San Diego County... traditionally a conservative area and its not overrun with homeless people and its has lots of nice, well maintained suburbs with good schools and people raising their children with values. My sister and her family live there and so does my wife's sister and her family. Both my sister and then later my wife's sister came from Minnesota to stay with us in San Diego when they finished college and both met their husbands there and never left. And they still love it.
