Redding could make a run at 120 tomorrow. Their all-time high is 118, although their airport only has records back to 1986.
Nearby Red Bluff has much better data, with records back to 1933. They've been as hot as 119 in July (1972) and 121 is their all-time high from August 1981.
00Z GFS and GEM both more distinct with the trough passing to the north mid-week. Should result in a nice air mass change and flush out any pollutants building up. In the case of the GEM... it seems to be focusing all the energy and booting it eastward because its more ridgy after the trough than its 12Z run.
12:15AM and still feels like 100+. Flatiron’s negative departure evaporated faster than water in the Sahara.
