I don't like the trends going forward for mby up here, but what is bad for me is good for you and far SEMI. Overwhelming cold and suppressed systems will tend to still clip Detroit just like they did in 02-03 which was similar. Should be good ice fishing wx up here if that's your thing, lol.
Could've had another Dec '87 on our hands today (sigh)
DTX
Dynamic mid-latitude cyclone is expected to deepen to
986mb as it lifts northward through Lower Michigan 21z this
afternoon to 12z Monday morning. The first item of the late Period
1/early Period 2 time frame was to increase surface winds.
I imagine this precip shield would be a bit wider if it were a snowstorm.
@Tom mentions Superbowl weekend re-loop but that's just wishful thinking tbh that a repeat of this same scenario with actual cold air could/will occur. Slush on grass is the final call from the offices here for this system overnight. NAM's been mis-handling a couple key ingredients causing it to be over-aggressive with snow amounts on a very borderline situation. January cold blast looks to suppress the synoptic waves south of me and refresh the LES areas north of me. I had December and a White Christmas few on here had and it even earned me a meme. May have been the best we will see out of this LRC and it's two patterns.
Raining attm w 43F. Feels like "The Calm B4 Ol' Man Winter Arrives Next Week."
It will get quite busy around here weatherwise. Note: this shortwave for tomorrow nite into NYE looks interesting for some folks and for mby, hopefully. Keeping an eye out for that.
