Looks like another wet period coming down here as a slow moving mid level low induces multiple days of rain. Severe weather won't be happening, but that's fine. I think one more wet period should put us in a good place after the dry winter. Hopefully you all up north can do better into June. With that said, the start of June looks relatively cool and dry for a few days, at least for me.

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised to have been awakened by loud claps of thunder last night around 9-10pm! The system that tracked off the PAC ocean near N Baja has pumped up a good amount of moisture into the state of Arizona and 4 corners yesterday. I went on my walk after dinner and noticed the Cumulonimbus clouds way to my south near the Tucson area. There was a chance that we would see some out flows and wouldn't ya know, they ended up producing outflow boundaries after sunset and popped up a cell right over Fountain Hills! My area scored 0.12" of rain and was on the higher end of the scale while other spots did get some minor precip. Nevertheless, it was a blessing and the aroma of the desert is wonderful this morning. May and June are the driest months of the year.

It was a wet day yesterday as I recorded 1.03” of rainfall. The overnight low here in my yard was 51 and at 6:50 AM it is foggy and 52. Today should see the fog lift and the temperatures are forecasted to get to the low 80’s tonight should be clear with lows in the upper 50’s. The rest of this week looks to be summer like with highs in the 80’s through Thursday and lows in the low 50’s to the low 60’s, there is a slight chance of showers on Wednesday. The summer like conditions should continue into the weekend with highs in the upper 70’s and lows in the lower 50’s with a lot of sunshine. Yesterday the official H/L at Grand Rapids was 66/51 there was 0.99” of rainfall there were no Cooling Degree Days and 6 Heating Degree Days. Weather conditions reported were thunderstorm, heavy rain, rain and fog. For today the average H/L is 73/52 the record high of 91 was in 1977 the coldest high of 49 was in 1924 the record low of 31 was in 1992 the warmest low of 67 was in 1896 in more recent years, it was 66 in 2023. The most rainfall of 1.27” was in 1970. Last year the H/L was 68/40. Some weather history for May 25th 1955 — Two tornadoes struck the town of Blackwell, OK, within a few minutes time during the late evening. The tornadoes killed 18 persons and injured more than 500 others. Early the next morning a tornado virtually obliterated the small community of Udall KS killing 80 persons and injuring 270 persons.
