Yeah upwelling has slowed. Eventual amplitude will probably hinge how strong trades get over the dateline during J/A/S.
The summer season probably is very niña-like due to low frequency coupling w/ the -PMM, but as the ITCZ moves southward later in the year, if the niña is muted, some of those ENSO characteristics could fade from the pattern and MJO/intraseasonal stuff would take over. Maybe.
It's the kind of weekend where I sit outside with my cat for hours without realizing any time has passed. She likes the outdoors rain or shine, but I prefer to sit in the sun. Plus there are more bugs out for her to be distracted by!
This sun is such a mood booster. I prefer clouds and rain aesthetically, also for the reason that it keeps everything moist and alive for longer. But being able to sustain a good mood is really nice.
75 and sunny with a deep blue sky... hard to not call this a perfect summer day.
Unless of course low 50s with showers in your definition of "very reasonable temps" for summer. But even Juneau is sunny and in the 60s right now and will be in the low 70s tomorrow... so not sure where low 50s is considered reasonable for summer. Maybe an island in the Bering Sea? Also a possibility that Chris was just trolling very hard as usual.
