  1. Past hour
  2. First 70+ dp of the year Not enough to drench the windows in condensation yet, but Satan is rising.
  3. Multitude of factors. Inception of Niña/E-Hem LF forcing in tandem with descending +QBO, -PMM/+AAM (which modulates ITCZ/HC width), and +DMI/+IOD tendency which will focus convection towards the IO side of the IPWP heading into the heart of summer. Everything is set up the worst way possible. A miracle is always possible, but those are few and far between these days. June might have a few cool shots left in the tank (eastern US first half of month then western US second half) but that’ll likely be the exception rather than the rule IMO.
  4. Goddamn. And coming up on the anniversary of the Twistex tragedy.
  5. Triple shot rock blocks are always a sign of summer.
  6. We have been debating when to sell for awhile now... just in terms of too much house and yard and maybe looking to cash out and downsize. The only time weather was mentioned in that discussion was my wife's concerns about hotter summers and dead trees and increased fire danger. But neither of us want to live in a Sitka climate either. Not many people do based on the population there. Summers being too hot or if they go back to wet and cold will make the decision easier.
  7. I'm assuming you would make a hasty exit then if the climate regime of the foreseeable future became mid 1950s summers? It's fine to admit it!
  8. Anywhoooooo... back to my original and completely non-controversial point from 6 hours ago. Looking forward to some warmer weather. Even upper mid to upper 60s would be nice. And I bet even most of the natives agree. I swear the most complaining about climo weather that I hear comes from lifelong natives. They had no choice and just assume this climate is the worst. People in MN do the same thing.
  9. Rrrrrrrrradio DJ just said this weekend is the kickoff for SUMMER so June must be a SUMMER month. Hope it snows next winter.
  10. Clouds started to came back just before 4.
  11. It’s hard to even explain how different summer was back then. I see 2016 mentioned as a cool summer. It had several major heatwaves in June and August!
  12. Arguing? How is this arguing? My preferences remain the same.
  13. Yes, it will grow anywhere it can get direct sunlight along the foothills. And it grows very quickly.
  14. Well Justin... life is short and timing is everything. We have the means to move anywhere we want whenever we want. And we did back in the early 2000s as well. No one forced us here and no one is forcing us to stay. Also... maybe you should stop clinging to the climate regime of your childhood. Climate regimes change.
  15. @TT-SEA Enough of the "arguing"... I think we can both appreciate the sky today
  16. Today
  17. Tim's time here has also coincided with the extremely fortuitous warming and Viagra-like extension of our summer pattern. I think that even a return to an average 1980s or 1990s warm season would be enough to drive poor Tim into a tailspin, since we typically still at least managed to get some transient legit cooler/wetter than average months sprinkled into a warming base state during the May-September timeframe back then. I mean, a month like an August 1995 or a July 1986 would undoubtedly lead to a lot of soul searching on his part.
  18. She’s 25, it’s just for attention. But you have to love the effort. It’s almost like she’s auditioning to be my next side piece.
  19. Its been a scintillating discussion about my weather preferences today. Sorry for my EPS post. But if tomorrow's run looks the same then I just might say the same thing again. My feelings are unchanged. And if tomorrow's run goes back to troughy then I will mention that too... with a touch of personal sadness! I am sure I am the only person in the PNW looking forward to some warmer/drier weather now.
  20. Not to be a downer, but I've been seeing some talk recently about the rampant spread of flammable Scotch broom in burned areas such as the Santiam River corridor. Anyone been up that way and can confirm? I know for sure that it's pretty rampant along the McKenzie.
  21. Our lovely Anti Marine Layer spends every May and June on here complaining about how gloomy SoCal is, so maybe he's better off here.
  22. Minnesota is where are roots are and the basis for my world view. But Minnesota was too extreme for us and San Diego was too boring. I hated how dry it was there. I want some rain in the summer. Do I have to be super excited about every single aspect of climo here? There is literally no place that is perfect. Why does it matter anyways? If we get into a warm/dry pattern for an extended period of time then I will be looking forward to some rain. And vice versa. Whatever.
