The 7 consecutive years here without a significant south windstorm is pretty noteworthy. There've been a couple up north since then, but the big offshore tracking regional blows seem to be a thing of the past.
Warm season convection historically is always more hit or miss, but I think the complete lack of 500mb disturbances penetrating through the thick shield of high pressure that takes residence across our region during the warm season means fewer opportunities now for convection. I don't think I've had a single July thunderstorm day so far this decade. As recently as the 2000s those were nearly an annual occurrence here.
