LOT is still confirming tornadoes from the June 11 outbreak. Total in the LOT cwa is up to 21, which is the 3rd outbreak to produce 20+ tornadoes in the LOT cwa just since 2023. Some of this is likely due to more thorough surveying compared to years past (in particular, the use of drones and high-resolution satellite imagery) but it has simply been a very active stretch of years as well.
There are some interesting nuggets regarding a couple of the tornadoes:
-The Kouts, IN EF-3 was the first F/EF-3 tornado in Porter county IN since 1976.
-The Hickory Hills to Midway Airport area tornado is listed as causing 6 injuries. That is the most injuries from a tornado in Cook county IL in 35 years, since the Lemont tornado in March 1991. Caveat is that injury counts in tornadoes may not be accurate sometimes, as some people with very minor injuries may not get counted, but no other tornado was documented with more than 1 injury in Cook co in that 35 year stretch. Had the tornado maintained EF-2 strength into Chicago, then it's likely that there would've been more injuries.
