This winter is going to blowtorch everywhere except the deep SE US and SoCal/AZ IMO. Anyone above 40N is at high risk an all time warm DJF.
Blowtorch nearly guaranteed here as well (especially the front half). Snowfall is a crapshoot, if we score it will be from 1 or 2 super sized storms imbedded in a sea of torch.
It really hasn't been that bad for you guys since early July. DCA was just slightly above normal departure in July and August is running about the same. Precip running a little above normal. Hottest temp in DC for the month has been 94, and it hasn't been 90+ since 8/20.
I have much more to complain about here...though at least August has delivered some nice monsoonal action the past few weeks.
