These numbers ALWAYS do not reflect the folks who are no longer looking for jobs. I have heard nothing about how these numbers are way off from previous unemployment numbers.
In a single level home I can see that working. Our upstairs stays like a sauna when we have highs above 85 and if you have multiple people doing loads of laundry right outside the rooms. AC can't be left on all night unless we start getting lows 70-75 degrees.
I was lucky with not really needing AC in Klamath Falls due to their big swings in temp from high to low.
With a low near 50 your house was 78? If you have a screened window in your bedroom, you can just put a fan there to suck the cool air in from outside. It works great for us, 67 in here this morning.
