They are calling it "The Alps of MIT" Think it might be there a while? http://c.o0bg.com/rf/image_1920w/Boston/2011-2020/2015/02/13/BostonGlobe.com/Metro/Images/img_0000-8311.jpg http://c.o0bg.com/rf/image_960w/Boston/2011-2020/2015/02/13/BostonGlobe.com/Metro/Images/2015_02_SnowMIT-web.jpg
The flowers in the eastern gorge are a couple weeks ahead of schedule. http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Catherine-Creek-21315 http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Catherine-Creek-21315/i-JrD3DQK/0/M/39.%20G%20Grass%20Widow%20Close-M.jpg http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Catherine-Creek-21315/i-CbVMc9f/0/M/171.%20G%20Grass%20Widow%20Close-M.jpg My plum tree is in bloom. Last year it wasn't until mid March.
Short but pretty hike today! http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Latourell-Falls-21615 http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Latourell-Falls-21615/i-bjqVt7s/0/M/11.%20G%20Latourell%20Falls%20Close-M.jpg http://weathercrazy.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Latourell-Falls-21615/i-HtgPts3/0/M/20.%20G%20Latourell%20Falls%20V-M.jpg
I sure hope not *yawn*.. Time for spring weather to continue or mountain snow. Mother Nature can take her dusty, dry, back-door event and shove it up her a**. Completely meaningless at this point and only makes things worse.
Ah, that's too bad, Red Mountain might have been another one to try, they still have reasonably good snow conditions even in the nearest town, Rossland. Nice view down to Trail and the Columbia River from up there. I can imagine bookings at places like Silverstar are way up with the terrible snow conditions in all the coastal resorts. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p286/jemeric/granitecam700_zps2bfc9f41.jpg
Beautiful day in eugene all day finally. Felt like an early spring day touching 32 early in the morning and up to 63 this afternoon. Love waking up to sunlight in my room which rarely happens with an east facing window during the winter in Eugene.
Pretty impressive cold happening in eastern Canada. This from Environment Canada............. The record of -34.1 c set at the Waterloo Airport represents the coldest temperature ever recorded at this site since records were kept beginning in 1970. This temperature also beats out an older record from the adjacent Kitchener city of -33.9 set back on February 9, 1934. Records at Kitchener city have been kept since 1915. The Niagara region has also seen its coldest February temperature on record of -31.9 at Welland. The old February record of -31.1 was Set at Welland on February 9, 1934. Records there go back to 1873.
Some of the 00z Euro Ensembles looked amazing from the Plains to the Lakes. What bothers me is the sky high AO that doesn't support a phasing system and more in line what the GFS/GGEM are showing. Let's see if the Euro holds.
