Today is my son's eighth birthday. It's easy to remember because he was born in 2016 and shares his birthday with a certain politician elected that year. Plus its Flag Day.
He woke me up at 5am and said it was daytime. Sigh. But it was an opportunity to explain sun angles and that in a week, the solstice will be here. We are not far from the Mtn time zone border either so we usually have early sunrises, coupled with out northern latitude. Our sunsets aren't as late as Stanwood but the rises of course are earlier.
I agree that it is increasingly looking like the CONUS death ridge is going to be more of an “east of the Mississippi” event to start. Plenty of time to retrograde and expand since summer hasn’t even started yet.
