Yes. There were several warm ups this far south in 1950, a couple days in the 50s at SLE. Still exceptionally cold and much more extreme than 1949, that month just had no warm up.
Looking at the Mount Washington (Vancouver Island) web cams, it's absolutely dumping up there now. A very healthy looking snowpack and this is just at the base (3600 ft asl) -
I'm just going to throw this out there, it's not the end of winter yet. Technically, it's not winter. Yes, the models are showing higher pressure right now but things can change in a heartbeat. We all saw this what, and little over a week ago when we were supposed to have higher pressure than the models did a 360 and gave us the major bomb cyclone.
I've lived here all my life and I normally see relatively quite times the beginning of December and a wild second half of December. 2008 comes to mind. I was living next to Emanuel Hospital in North Portland and I had 18 inches of snow. My mom lived in Wood Village and she had 2 feet of snow. The first half of that year was quite and relatively warm until I think it was the 18th when we got our first snow event.
Sometimes we have to go through some of the stuff we don't want but the wait will be worth it. 🌨
