This region in our normal summer weather is paradise. I don't see any reason to book vacations elsewhere in the summer (unless it's to visit family, for instance). Better to save that travel money for November to March. Travel is way cheaper in the winter anyway and I'll take any excuse I can to leave the western lowlands then. I know you don't see the appeal of driving an hour to snow or whatever, but there's a reason skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports are so popular here. It's probably the quickest and easiest way to escape the lowland muck.
