Just like that, Severe Storms are firing up all over the central and east valley! Boom! Sky Harbor and my place under a warning with 60mph+ gusts and a vivid lighting show outside my window. The southern valley is getting a massive wall of dust....all facets of the Monsoon are lambasting the PHX valley. I smelled it in the air today and just felt it would deliver.
LOL, 2 people talking about just today's high temps in a specific area, not yesterdays, not last years on the same date, no other day at all ever, and then a certain someone just has to go, eh, let's look at years past, for absolutely zero reason. Today is today 2026, not 2015 FFS!!
Yes you are a weather nerd! But thats okay! So are most of us on here! The mid atlantic is the worlds capitol for weather nerds, lol. It appears to me to go back to Ben Franklin, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. I was born in Frederick, Maryland in our high school library we had many old old books from 1700s thru 1800s detailing the weather records of those forefathers. I poured over them! I remember a hail storm probably in 1700s that killed many people and livestock in baltimore!
While folks in general are more serious weather hobbyist in that area, I was a freak! I often got mocked for sitting in library read weather stories or changing the tv channel 5 times to see pa/md/va tv weather men!
But it was a nieghbor (Mr. VonEiff) that used to tell me about weather record keeping! His family took pride in being a long time coop observer in Unionville Maryland, his creekside location was often called "marylands icebox" since it had a extreme thermal situation on cool high pressure nights (similar to the York, PA airlort west of York). In fact around aug 29th 1981 (need to look date up) his area had frost!!!
But Mr VonEiff was best known for recording the WORLD RECORD 1 MINUTE RAINFALL!
