You don't like dark mornings... I get it. There are many people like you. But there is more who prefer later sunsets over earlier sunrises. Particularly after living with sunsets shortly after 4 p.m. in the winter all their lives.

This is why year-round DST is nothing new and has been the status quo since the Second World War, when it was introduced as a wartime measure and proved so popular that it was never repealed.

No way... people will enjoy the sun being up at 5 p.m. more than they dislike the later sunrise. Everyone knows its a trade off. They won't be judging just the impact on morning alone. And daylight will start shortly after 8 a.m. even though the sun won't actually rise until later.

Definitely getting a bit of an 8/29/2015 vibe from Friday's storm. Likely to be come in further south though. 10/2/1967 is another analog with an early season storm that wrapped up right near the coast, enough to deliver a good blow across a ~100 mile swath (Portland hit 78mph).
