I lived in Downtown Everett with rooftop access and spend most of the evening watching planes trying to land an PAE but then divert elsewhere. Then we started to get planes from SEA because of a cell that wasn’t moving fast enough.
I’ll never forget the lightning barrage we had in July 2008. Storm blew up overhead and immediately began spitting out CG after CG in rapid succession, each close enough for near instantaneous thunder. Easily 1-2 bolts per second at peak.
Probably had 30+ bolts in < 30 seconds then it was suddenly over. Only time I can recall my hair literally standing up on end in a storm. Also the strongest ozone smell I can remember. Have been waiting 16 years for a repeat and so far nothing has come close to that.
I have said previously that 2022 made 2010 look like child's play. 3 months in 2022 vs 1 really bad month in 2010 (mid May through mid June). 2011 was cold but also seemed more variable and there were not long stretches of gloomy weather.
