I don’t get it either. It doesn’t take much knowledge of weather in Halifax to know that that was doomed from the start. Speaking of which, it’s our neighbours’ third go with this tropical. The past three winters took it out since for three years in a row, we’ve had cold snaps with low from -10C to -16C (14F to 3F). We went from February 2012 - November 2021 without it being that cold. There was a proliferation of tropicals in peoples’ yards during that time. Right along the ocean in Vancouver there’s a few palm trees. It looks ridiculous—misplaced. It’s like trying to plant lodgepole pine in Florida.
Lows this morning reached as low as 51.7 at Chester Springs but only 57.9 in higher spots like East Nantmeal. Today will be our 4th straight below normal day with temps no higher than the low to mid 70's. We start a nice warming trend tomorrow...the warmest day this week looks like Friday some valley locations could touch 90 degrees before cooler over the weekend.
Chester County records for today: High 98 degrees at West Chester (2008) / Low 35 degrees also at West Chester (1972) / Rain 3.30" at Coatesville (1968)
Interesting to see plotted what I've observed since late winter. A very very long season of at least periodic reasonable temperatures. You can see the well above normal temperatures in Feb to Mar with many days in the 70s to even low 80s. By April we were getting less cold extremes, but the warm extremes were still in the 80s. Then for May to June (so far) we've mostly avoided any seriously above normal temperatures with the daily range mostly narrowing. In the end it hasn't meant every day is nice, but it has meant at least every few days there has been a good day or two to get outside since the end of January here. We are finally about to leave that window, but it's been a good 4 to 4.5 months.
