4th consecutive day the ECMWF weeklies look better for early January. The 10mb zonal wind forecast continues to drop for the first half of January as well.

Looks pretty promising.

Maybe this big trade wind / SOI burst will drop the subsurface again. I'm sure it will cause the ENSO SSTs to drop some more.

It is taking forever and day to clear out up here. About the slowest clear out in the history of mankind, I think. The circulation is very weak right now. Low level moisture is going to make it hard to achieved freezing mins. On the plus side the airmass over us is decently cool right now.
