Even the very conservative NWS Hastings has said that amounts have trended up. That is why they are putting out large possibilities for varying amounts.
I am thinking Omaha proper will get 3-5” from this system (fingers crossed)… good luck to the KS/ MO crew - you guys down there are going to get slammed.
I think my FZRA window is primarily from 12-6 PM today and think sleet will predominate after 6 PM before changing over to snow.
My NWS forecast mentions FZRA until 3 AM, but I'm not buying that for now along with any models showing a prolonged period of FZRA.
Hopefully, I won't have to come back to eat crow later.
Just moved to SE Michigan in 2017. Before that, we lived in Western Washington state where the snow storms although rare would get 3 inch accumulation in a few hours. We had a good storm in 2016 in Bellingham where we had 20+ inches in a few days. First time I seen our deck disappear in our yard. That was awesome storm to experience. I think I have some pictures to show if I can find them to the group.
We were literally snowed in and couldn’t leave the neighborhood . For reference the area we lived in Washington averaged 9 inches of snow a year. Where we live now is 4 times that now, or at least should be. Great to be a part of this group and to listen to all the weather discussions. Having said that please send pics for those of us who couldn’t cash in on this storm. This weather weenie needs to see them, lol.
