The 00z NAM has over 40" in New Jersey. It snows for about 24 hours there, with the bulk of that 40"+ coming in a shorter timeframe.
Not that 40" can't happen in a Nor'easter, because it has happened before on occasion, but I think the problem with achieving amounts like that in this case is not having a longer duration of snowfall. You're kind of at the mercy of getting a long enough stretch of very heavy snowfall rates to get to those amounts since the window of accumulating snowfall is around 24 hours and not 36 or 48 hours. And since we're not seeing amounts like that on most other guidance, color me skeptical. That being said, cutting in half is still 20+, so pretty darn good.
This strong east wind is killing my snow chances this evening. It’s snowing pretty good a little farther inland but we get a little too much marine influence when the wind is from the E or NE but the airmass is borderline cold enough.
