Melanoma is not good. I’ve had a couple of basal cell cancers removed from my face. If sun screen existed when I was a kid in the sixties and seventies it wasn’t a thing at our house.
I wear a hat in the sun and I see the dermatologist at the first sign of any skin abnormality, and things have been good for the last few years.
I had an allergic reaction to the sun when I went to Singapore after a winter in the clouds here. Never had it before or since.
I also had a malignant melanoma removed when I was in my late 20s.
Don't mess with the sun. Better to get your Vitamin D in pill form.
