Am I reading this figure right that the anomaly is provided in +/- inches from average? So areas that receive little annual precip like the southwest are unlikely to ever show reds and the PNW it would be far more likely to see reds or blues in the winter/spring since our precip #'s are so much higher?
Scale is hard to decipher too, the color difference between -1.8" and -3.5" is hard for me to see. Bellingham's normal rainfall for all of April is 2.77" but this 15-day anomaly seems to show a similar deficit but only for a 15-day period?
