I’m the idiot who greenlit our big extended family gathering here for the 7/4 holiday, under the assumption the developing super niño would tame our summer heat. I was even explaining how it all works in the family group chat like a know-it-all. I’m now being vilified by all corners, including my 100 year old grandmother. The whole chat is a meme factory with my face superimposed. You guys would get a kick out of it, might have to post screenshots here. My reputation in the family is shattered irreparably. People start arriving here Thursday. Timing couldn’t be worse it’s like following a contrived cosmic script.

My son mentioned this to me last week... he doesn't really want to ever leave here in the summer. Its also nice that we have perfect weather when the days are the longest. Somewhere like Phoenix or Charleston can have nice weather when the days are short but its usually miserable when the days are long.

LOT did survey the area: Widespread damage (primarily toppled trees) occurred in the Griffith area. An NWS survey determined this damage was consistent with straight-line winds of 75-80 mph in this area. An additional concentrated area of straight-line wind damage occurred in the Merrillville vicinity as an additional surge occurred.
