That was Iniki in '92 on (9/11, ironically) . 2 weeks after Andrew hit Florida. Never really got the attention because of it. The eye went directly over Kauai. Leveled everything. Was on Oahu at the time..we got the backend SW's as it left 75-80mph and a ton of rain. There were wind readings on Kauai in the 200's, as I remember.

I believe Hawaii has gotten hit by a Cat 4 before. I was reading something, and they didn't have hurricane insurance until storm hit, now they do.
