You were cooler than me the last few days, but today it dropped to 44 here. I remember last year you started coming up with cooler mins than here at some point also. I think today's 44 is a record low for my records.
Models continue to advertise a big-time clash between cold/warm air masses mid continent next week. Looks potentially explosive for the northern plains.
The Mexican heat ridge was in May. The U.S. has seen nothing sustained like that this month, and won't for at least the next week.
You even said yourself last night that I was correct in pointing out models have been overpromising warmth in the long range for the western half of the country for weeks now.
Got down to 47 here this morning. Have still been consistently getting down into the mid-upper 40s at night which has been really nice. Some years we flip the switch in late May/early June and can’t manage to get below 50 until September.
Definitely looks like there will be some decent rain up here in Washington this weekend and early next week…but the gfs is still much different. Gfs shows that potent system early next week diving into SW WA/NW OR. Euro and Gem don’t really look as impressive with it. Just based on climo I’m guessing the gfs is off but we will see.
