They're trying to remove the concept from study because it's been found that 83% of people experiencince Gender Dysphoria in adolescence desisted in one of 4 overarching ways and since there's not one set definition used they want to remove it from the vernacular, while ignoring the 83% number.
The 4 overarching desistance "definitions" used in quantitative and qualitative studies:
Desistance as the disappearance of gender dysphoria (GD) after puberty, a change in gender identity from TGE to cisgender, the disappearance of distress, and the disappearance of the desire for medical intervention.
