Unbelievable turnaround here in Arizona where some pockets have completely reversed course. Only 1% of the state is in Severe Drought and now more areas of Normal conditions not far from my location.
Hey Chicago peeps, (and Indiana @Hoosier @indianajohn), isn't nice to be in a position where your not necessarily tooo worried about the RN/SN line??? This storm is shaping up to be a hellova First Major Winter Storm of the season that "shares the wealth".
Heck, even @KTPmidMOdown in the "ST Lou" could score a significant quick thump of snow. Who woulda thought this system would track south enough and have a lot of cold air to work with out ahead of the storm. Congrats to all who are scoring their first headline of the season. I'm sure we ALL will be busy tracking more next month.
I know the selfish side of being a snow enthusiast, you wanna be scoring early and often in the beginning of Met Winter and not have to wait till the "next one". How many times I remember waiting and waiting to get hit while those to the NW got hit first and enjoyed a canopy of white gold for a week or longer sometimes before I got to see snow. @Devy @Jaycee_CHI @shakjen and I know there are some more members I'm missing right now in C IL that know what I"m talking about being jealous of missing out on the 1st Big Snow.
Gosh, sitting here in AZ and watching this system evolve is a love of winter weather that never gets old for me. Good luck to our NE members as well bc this storm is going to produce some surprise banding that the globals are starting to "see" and I'm sure as we get closer to game time the higher rez models will hone it on it.
@jcwxguy, I mentioned the idea of Thundersnow yesterday after seeing some + signs for convection. Those who manage to be closer to the RN/SN line are prob going to see it happen if it does produce.
