Besides the question about how transient the lake effect will be, the other big question for me is the extent of inland penetration. There are indications that the low level flow could lighten and possibly get a little chaotic, at least at times, potentially causing the band to hang close to shore if not move offshore. The low level thermodynamic setup looks pretty much pristine though. It's a very cold airmass aloft, but not quite so cold as to result in pixie dust lake effect. At this time of year, an extremely high lake-850 mb delta T value is not necessarily a great thing because it tends to result in poor snowflake size due to the dgz being extremely shallow or nonexistent. With this event, the delta T looks to flirt near the sweet spot of being high, but not so high that there's no longer a dgz. If the band can stay onshore and target any one particular area for a long period of time, I really think it's katy bar the door. Aforementioned questions aside, this setup checks the boxes for being capable of producing an extremely intense band of snow.
