Pre-blizzard was 24.5”. This blizzard will put us a bit north of 60” for the season, which is the best since 2014-2015. What’s amazing is over 80% of that total came from two storms. Had those two storms not panned out, we would have had yet another well below average season.

The NE just went through a historical snow drought in the first half of the 2020s.

If the Northeast and Gulf Coast can break all time records like this what exactly is stopping us? The exact same cold-blocking Rockies and Cascades were there in 1862, 1880, 1893, 1930, 1937, 1949, 1950, and 1969. What changed?

The ensembles across multiple model suites have a number of members with a more significant surface low in the Ohio Valley area than their op runs. So given that and the NAM being farther north (even though the NAM can be goofy at this timeframe), I wouldn't be that surprised if this system becomes more robust/shifts north on future model runs.
