Apparently the true definition only needs 2 days. I had 2. What is SEA average high in June? SEA had 2 straight days that they broke record highs, that's gotta be a heatwave.
I was mostly being tongue in cheek. +15 for three days straight is a tall order, only accomplished by a handful of heat waves most places.
That said, for most the Puget Sound I would say this was just a two day heat wave. Low 80s most spots Saturday around Seattle/Tacoma metro (83 SEA, 80 Seattle WFO, 82 Renton, 81 BFI)...that definitely ain't heatwave material.
Idiot firebugs or carelessness in my old stomping grounds. For the years I lived in Kelowna as a boy and young man from 1983-2004, there were three interface fires in that timeframe. Two were arson, one was a lightning strike. Since 2004, there have been far more than three. Demographics of the Okanagan Valley has rapidly changed.
