Yeah why is everything I see lake and river wise from the south look like crap brown water? I would not enjoy that. Especially places like Texas and Louisiana, etc. yuck.

I m going to wait till October. My house is sitting at 68F, which is very comfortable. Well, tbh, my third level floor is the coldest, but noway Im hanging up there, until I turn on the heat next month. I have a couple of heaters down in my basement celler room, but I haven't used them in ages. I wonder if they still even work. Unless we get an usual Arctic cold Blast in September, you will never see me turn on the heat because of a couple of nite time low temps in the 40s and highs in the 60s.

We have PTSD from copperheads. The one year our MN family decided to go to Lake of the Ozarks... my nephew who was 3 years old at the time got bit and was rushed to emergency and almost died. Seems like it would be a pretty big thing that is always in the back of our mind. Always having to watch where you walk. They don't have anything like that in Minnesota so we never went back.

I grew up on a lake (Lake Murray) in central SC northwest of Columbia. no alligators once you get north of the Fall Line and off the coastal plain, so we didn't worry about that. but yes some snakes. once you get into the Mountains of NC the water gets a lot clearer and venomous snakes are far less numerous in water. moccasins and copperheads (only venomous snakes in or around water) or almost always on the coastal plain south and east of the Fall Line, although you can get copperheads pretty much anywhere in the SE.
