Geos
all of the subduction zones for he pacific have been active over the past decade, with the exception of the Cascadia line. My crackpot and uneducated theory has me believing that the relieved pressure from the the other zones is giving the tiny Jun de Fuca plate some breathing room. Or the opposite.I'm not sure how active the spreading center is off the coast of the Pacific Northwest, but I would guess that a significant earthquake will happen there again - may not be as big as these other ones have been though. Geologic theory is that the Juan de Fuca plate was part of the Cocos Plate (see link), which was called the Farallon plate. It's subduction under North America help raise the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado Plateau, the Wasatch Mountains, and set off the volcanic activity in northern Arizona. http://www.sanandreasfault.org/Plates.jpg Quote Mercer Island, 350 ft 2021-2022: 11.6", 02/21 2020-2021: 15.6" 2019-2020: ~10" 2018-2019 winter snowfall total: 29.5" 2017-2018: 9.0", 2016-2017: 14.0"

Andie
Oklahoma has been shaking like a bowl of jello. Many theorize that it's fracking water injection add pressure to small faults or lubricating them to slip. Either way, it's unnerving the populace. ClaireAnderson
In Japan, there's a debate raging about earthquake prediction. The scientists are divided over earthquake predictions. The Japanese government is focusing on the Nankai Trough research, a fault line which runs along the main island of Honshu. The scientists are worried if the fault line has not ruptured for a then may be an earthquake is due.
