I think we are both speaking from recent experience here. You're not wrong. But as a small business owner, I am very loyal to and grateful for good employees - and reward them as best I can.
Loyalty is the issue and that goes both ways. Your employer sees you as a cost and a number especially in Corporate America. the older you get the more you cost. (salary, healthcare, risk, etc). Your employer will sever ties with you as soon as there is any hint something is amiss or your contributions lose ROI. There is no loyalty anymore. Not like my parents working 30 years for one organization. Unions help here, but certain factions are hell bent on destroying all those collective rights to bargin for better wages, benefits and stability.
Very chilly air mass moving into the northern plains and upper Midwest later this week. This month will end up basically polar opposite of 1988 for temps across the country. Much closer to 2010. We'll see if that continues this summer.
