I used to believe that here in SE Iowa we needed lots of cold shots to get a good snow season. But in recent years we have had lots of wet juicy systems with good snow and mixed precip. But a 2013/2014 with repeated cold shots and clippers would be good for business!

I still think we will have some potential for another cold system around Dec 10th. It may end up not being cold enough or too far east, but there is a chance for something wintry with this pattern.

First sub 50 day here today at 48F. Down to 38F now so probably our coldest night so far is on the way, perhaps 25F or so.

Hinting at it more and more! It seemed unlikely for it to take a month for the ridge to break down. I’m just hesitant when it was just the gefs. Still a lot of progress to be made.
