Looking at where things stand now and factoring in the expected upcoming temps for this final week of August, it appears that ORD will probably finish met summer around +0.5 or so. It's more common to get cool summers in the strong Nino years, but there was a group of summers that finished fractions of a degree above average, as this one will do.
I did a quick look and PHX has never had a direct hit from a tropical storm, but rather, remnants of systems and the last big one was back in 2014 producing a 1-1000 year flood event.
